COMPASS PLACEMENT TEST

Students who are “pending admits” to Southern University  must meet all admissions requirements including  only one developmental education course. Based on ACT/SAT students cannot attend Southern University needing two developmental education courses unless they pass the COMPASS Test. The COMPASS Placement Test will be administered to allow students to test out of one or more of the courses.
The COMPASS Placement test will be given to students whose scores in English and Mathematics are below 18 on the ACT or below 430 on the quantitative component of the SAT and below 450 on the verbal component.

Each student is responsible for making accommodations to take the COMPASS Placement Test at Southern University, Baton Rouge Campus. Students who need to review English and mathematics should go to the COMPASS Test Study Guide, www.act.org, navigate to Assessments, click on COMPASS, sample questions, select subject or go to more sample questions. To take the COMPASS Placement Test, please contact University College at (225)771-2394.
